Back again, i swear I'm always having audio issues.
This time I'm running i3 via lightdm running OpenRC, on xfce4 pipewire and pavucontrol work fine. i have profiles set and I'm good. As soon as i switch to i3 pavucontrol just says connecting and never connects and i have no sound.
I don't know what information to give you other then this is a Chromebook running latest version of Gentoo.

I solved this by reading the gentoo wiki on pipewire

Rebooted after i did all this and everything is working
