lmms 1.2.2 crashing

I've run lmms before; may be few months ago but now all of a sudden it is crashing.

Launch:

Code: Select all

.# lmms
Notice: could not set realtime priority.
Cannot load library /usr/lib64/lmms/libcarlarack.so: (libcarlabase.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
Cannot load library /usr/lib64/lmms/libcarlapatchbay.so: (libcarlabase.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
Cannot load library /usr/lib64/lmms/libcarlabase.so: (libcarla_native-plugin.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
Segmentation fault
I didn't find any reference of libcarlabase or libcarlarack on google or on my system.
Is this a hack? lmms latest on official website is 1.2.2 so their devs might know.
Is my system injected with some trojan or what?

Code: Select all

emerge --info media-sound/lmms
media-sound/lmms-1.2.2::gentoo was built with the following:
USE="alsa mp3 ogg pulseaudio sdl -debug -fluidsynth -jack -libgig -portaudio -soundio -stk (-vst)" ABI_X86="(64)"

Look at this upstream bug.

What do you see that makes you suspect malicious interference? Generally, hacks try to hide their presence, rather than announce it by destabilizing other things.

Because ldd on binary didn't show any missing libcarlabase.

So basically libcarla_native-plugin.so resides in /usr/lib64/lmms/optional and system doesn't look up in that folder.
I made a symlink so that linker could find the library. That error is gone but lmms still crashes. I even compiled with :

Code: Select all

media-sound/lmms abi_x86_64 abi_x86_32
But no relief.
They have an open bug at github https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/issues/5525

There is no such "carla" use flag on gentoo's ebuild so it seems a mandatory library: (https://kx.studio/Applications:Carla).

So currently it is non-gentoo bug. Weirdly, I remember running lmms few months or probably in December last year.
Only available ebuild on lmms is 1.2.2 so I can't go back for now.

Does this mean lmms 1.2.2 are running on Gentoo's CI/CD development machines?
If not, should not this ebuild should be masked or something?

See [bug=907285]bug 907285[/bug]. I think we just need to fix the search path it hardcodes.

Just to record; even by linking all libraries Segmentation Fault is thrown and lmms won't start.
Flatpak version also gives segmentation fault.
May be mask this in next update.
