Pipewire cadence pulseaudio BLOCK

  • Quote

Post by artbody » Wed May 24, 2023 8:39 am

I switched to pipewire
what i did is

Code: Select all

USE="acpi alsa apache2 apng -guile cgi calf driver -doc extraengine ffmpeg gd gnutls jack lm_sensors lv2 mod multilib mmx mysql mysqli mtp nls odbc perl php -sddm sse sse2 systemd nvidia truetype udisks unicode xml X zip aes mabm mcx16 mlzcnt mmxext msahf pie pipewire pulseaudio popcnt sound sound-server sse3 sse4.1 sse4.2 sse4a ssse3 midi"

there was a soft blocking with cadence, pulseaudio-daemon and pipewire
so i did

Code: Select all

emerge --unmerge media-sound/pulseaudio-daemon
emerge --unmerge cadence

emerge --ask media-video/pipewire
emerge --ask media-video/wireplumber
emerge media-sound/pulseaudio

Code: Select all

 emerge cadence -av

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Try

Code: Select all

emerge -cav cadence
USE="sound-server -daemon jack-sdk -jack" emerge -pv pulseaudio pipewire libpulse ### edited. removed cadence
If that works then save the USE flags
ie

pipewire with "sound-server jack-sdk"
pulseaudio with "-daemon -jack"

and run

Code: Select all

emerge -av pipewire pulseaudio
emerge -av cadence
emerge -a --depclean.
These USE work for me

Code: Select all

[ebuild   R    ] media-libs/libpulse-16.1-r2::gentoo  USE="X asyncns dbus glib gtk -doc (-selinux) -systemd -test -valgrind" ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)" 0 KiB
[ebuild   R    ] media-sound/pulseaudio-16.1::gentoo  USE="bluetooth glib -daemon -jack -ofono-headset" ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)" 0 KiB

[ebuild   R    ] media-video/pipewire-0.3.71-r1:0/0.4::gentoo  USE="X bluetooth dbus echo-cancel jack-sdk* readline sound-server ssl -doc -extra -ffmpeg -flatpak -gsettings -gstreamer -jack-client -lv2 -modemmanager -pipewire-alsa (-system-service) -systemd -test -v4l -zeroconf" ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)" 0 KiB

[ebuild  N     ] media-sound/cadence-0.9.2-r1::gentoo  USE="opengl pulseaudio -a2jmidid" PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET="python3_11 -python3_10" 2,151 KiB

First please totally delete cadence and just let pipewire settle.
DO not emerge cadence immediately.
Just build

Code: Select all

pipewire with "sound-server jack-sdk"
pulseaudio with "-daemon -jack"
After that run

Code: Select all

emerge -a --depclean
and check if pulseaudio-daemon
is gone.
:)
