Kscreenlocker plugins don't work?

Kscreenlocker plugins don't work?
Whenever kscreenlocker becomes active, the screen is locked, but the background plugins don't work - I just get a plain black background. It doesn't matter what plugin I configure in systemsettings, the result is the same. I can't find any error messages being generated anywhere. It's not fatal, but it is ugly. Desktop wallpaper is working.
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine (RFC 1925, apparently talking about Gentoo)
