I need help narrowing down a bug. I can replicate the visual bug consistently, but I don't know who to file a report with. Basically, there are random green pixels on various programs. I first noticed this with spacemacs:

I thought it might be a spacemacs issue, so I nuked it and reinstalled emacs. It was also present with emacs:

The weird thing is he uses Wayland, Gnome, and Fedora. I use X11, KDE, and Gentoo. We both have AMD GPUs, though.

I suspect a video card driver issue or even a hardware problem.
As you were able to reproduce the issue on two machines, I'm more inclined to go with the driver.
Can you test at different screen resolutions?
Different screen resolutions tend to have the pixel buffers in different location in the video card RAM.
What about different colour depths?
What video hardware and drivers do both machines use?
What video resolution do both machines normally use?

So I tested this with different resolutions and on different monitors and got the same results. As for color depths, I have no idea. I'm not sure how I would go about checking that. Both machines use AMD GPUs. One uses a RX5600 and the other uses a RX6700 XT. Both are using amdgpu for the driver I'm pretty sure. Can you test at different screen resolutions?
Different screen resolutions tend to have the pixel buffers in different location in the video card RAM.
What about different colour depths?
What video hardware and drivers do both machines use?
What video resolution do both machines normally use?
I tried on a laptop using Ubuntu (gnome) and I couldn't reproduce the issue, but it is using a way older emacs version and a different gpu. I'm thinking it's either a recent xorg thing, a gtk thing, or an amd thing.CooSee wrote:have you tried with a clean (new) user ?
