AMDGPU in kernel 5.16.10 blank screen after boot

I switched from an nvidia card to a radeon wx3200 card and ensured the kernel configs support the amdgpu drivers following the guidelines in:

I've ensured all firmware is indeed loading which you can see in the attached linked dmesg output. However during boot and either during or after initramfs my monitor goes entirely blank and signal lost. I don't actually boot into X so this isn't an X11 driver issue. I boot into the tty1 console and perform various tasks before switching to X11. However the screen goes blank.

I cannot see anything in the dmesg output that stands out but I've attached it in case anyone else finds it useful.

Any help is appreciated. I am able to ssh into the box as its up and running just fine. I just cannot get working video output.

Please take a look at: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Framebuffer, section "DRM framebuffer drivers"

The section starts with "For everyone except nvidia-drivers users"...

Especially the option "Enable legacy fbdev support for your modesetting driver" (CONFIG_DRM_FBDEV_EMULATION) seems to be important, as it enables the Linux console support on top of the modesetting driver. See: viewtopic-t-1052068.html
