Accounts are normally not deleted. However, by request to an administrator, and after appropriate confirmation, the account can be pseudo-deleted:
The name becomes its profile number.
The password is randomized.
The e-mail of record is changed to one that goes only to Gentoo Forums administrators, thereby making recovery impossible, even if someone else later took control of the e-mail account to which the forum account was initially registered.
Note that this will not delete posts you have made, nor will it eliminate any place that people quoted your posts or addressed you by your forum username. We assume your posts had value to the community, and will continue to be useful to people even after you cease contributing. You could choose to delete your posts, but as a social courtesy, we hope that you will not delete posts that people would find useful.
Politicians have all been divisive people, so I would discourage choosing a user name based on a politician of any sort.
I was hoping that you would choose something "nicely inconspicuous", while the association with your old user name was erased by time.
However, Ford Prefect is taken.
george_washington was a prominent slave owner, so not a good choice.
