I looked into this once again. I ran

Code: Select all

ebuild /var/db/repos/gentoo/mail-client/thunderbird/thunderbird-78.14.0.ebuild install
There's a file '/var/tmp/portage/mail-client/thunderbird-78.14.0/work/thunderbird_build/comm/mail/installer/locale-manifest.in':

Code: Select all

[multilocale]
@RESPATH@/res/multilocale.txt
@RESPATH@/chrome/en-US@JAREXT@
@RESPATH@/chrome/en-US.manifest
and there are the corresponding files:

Code: Select all

drwxr-xr-x 3 portage portage   60 Oct 28 16:55 /var/tmp/portage/mail-client/thunderbird-78.14.0/work/thunderbird_build/dist/bin/chrome/en-US
-rw-r--r-- 1 portage portage 1567 Oct 28 16:55 /var/tmp/portage/mail-client/thunderbird-78.14.0/work/thunderbird_build/dist/bin/chrome/en-US.manifest
lrwxrwxrwx 1 portage portage   40 Oct 28 16:55 /var/tmp/portage/mail-client/thunderbird-78.14.0/work/thunderbird_build/dist/bin/res/multilocale.txt -> ../../../toolkit/locales/multilocale.txt
It seems that on _kopsu_'s machine, there is the file 'locale-manifest.in', but the corresponding files are missing. As a consequence, he gets the error messages below:

Code: Select all

 0:01.22 Error: $OBJDIR/comm/mail/installer/locale-manifest.in:4: Missing file(s): bin/chrome/en
 0:01.22 Error: $OBJDIR/comm/mail/installer/locale-manifest.in:5: Missing file(s): bin/chrome/en.manifest
 0:01.22 Error: $OBJDIR/comm/mail/installer/locale-manifest.in:6: Missing file(s): bin/chrome/fi
 0:01.22 Error: $OBJDIR/comm/mail/installer/locale-manifest.in:7: Missing file(s): bin/chrome/fi.manifest
@_kopsu_:

Please post your file '/var/tmp/portage/mail-client/thunderbird-78.14.0/work/thunderbird_build/comm/mail/installer/locale-manifest.in'

And please verify that the files mentioned in that file are missing on your machine.

Please post the output of

Code: Select all

ls -la /var/tmp/portage/mail-client/thunderbird-78.14.0/work/thunderbird_build/dist/bin/chrome/
Maybe there's a file 'en-US.manifest' instead of 'en.manifest'?

Okay, there are either too many entries in your 'locale-manifest.in' OR files are missing in your 'bin/chrome/'.

I think there are too many entries in your 'locale-manifest.in'.

Because no matter what I do, I always get the same 'locale-manifest.in'. For example, I tried

Code: Select all

USE="l10n_de l10n_fi l10n_en" L10N="de en fi" MOZ_LANG="de en fi" LINGUAS="de en fi" ebuild /var/db/repos/gentoo/mail-client/thunderbird/thunderbird-78.14.0.ebuild install
But my 'locale-manifest.in' does not contain entries for 'en' and 'fi':

Code: Select all

[multilocale]
@RESPATH@/res/multilocale.txt
@RESPATH@/chrome/en-US@JAREXT@
@RESPATH@/chrome/en-US.manifest
So why do you get entries for 'en' and 'fi' in your 'locale-manifest.in'?

I can reproduce the issue if I define MOZ_CHROME_MULTILOCALE:

Code: Select all

MOZ_CHROME_MULTILOCALE="de fi" ebuild /var/db/repos/gentoo/mail-client/thunderbird/thunderbird-78.14.0.ebuild install
aborts with the error message:

Code: Select all

 0:00.72 Error: $OBJDIR/comm/mail/installer/locale-manifest.in:4: Missing file(s): bin/chrome/de
 0:00.72 Error: $OBJDIR/comm/mail/installer/locale-manifest.in:5: Missing file(s): bin/chrome/de.manifest
 0:00.72 Error: $OBJDIR/comm/mail/installer/locale-manifest.in:6: Missing file(s): bin/chrome/fi
 0:00.72 Error: $OBJDIR/comm/mail/installer/locale-manifest.in:7: Missing file(s): bin/chrome/fi.manifest
@_kopsu_: Do you set MOZ_CHROME_MULTILOCALE or a similar variable anywhere on your machine?

Thanks you everyone for the help! The problem is solved. It was either ANT not being installed or system locales messed (/etc/env.d/09locale).
TB & FF installs now fine.
