"hjkl" is available but there is a near collision with "hjklll". Would that change your choice?

That name has been taken. Unless you believe that was also your account, you would need to choose another name or keep your current name.

That name hasn't been used in years (2004), I've been watching it for nearly 17 years and he hasn't touched it since ~2004. Is there a statute of limitations on unused forum names?. I've had my eye on it that entire time being that I have used it for everything online since 1995. Now if you're unaffected by my woeful tale I'll go with my real name 'sjones', but I would really like genix.

It may be dormant, but it is not unused. The issue is with the user's posts. Giving someone the name of an existing user would have the appearance of a single author. The posts themselves would show the account ID, but references in quotes or other references by name would create confusion. The only exceptions I'm aware of are when an account does not appear to have been used legitimately (spam or similar); or if the person wanting the name can get the owner to give it away AND the account has some sufficiently small number of posts. I'm not sure if the second one has ever happened.

I am sympathetic, but there aren't any practical solutions at this point. I've gone ahead and changed it to sjones.

Thanks pjp, this will be my final ask as I don't want to become a vexatious name changer, I am attempting to give all my development accounts a similar short Nick, is vaako taken if not please change to vaako?

Why not "genix2" ? or "genix the barbarian" or "genix666"? or similar?
