After 3 years or so on my venerable 2700x, I finally managed an upgrade Ive looked forward to for some time: A brand new 3900x. Why not a 5900x? It looks as though the gains per dollar arent as sweet with ryzen3 as with the 3900x. Long story short: gcc-10.3 went from 32 min @ -j14, to 19 min @ -j20. The new cpu also runs much, much cooler.

I am. I love it when costly upgrades work out better than Id hoped. Also, my old IMC limited me to 3k dram freq., but this one easily doing 3200 with no extra voltage.

What is the highest temperature you reach when emerging?

I'm glad you have fun with the 3900X, did you verified differences between (3k dram freq to 3200mhz) ?

Depends on the function, frequency, heatsink, volt.

Its very warm here, and I saw a maximum of about 75C. I have yet to do any fine tuning to voltages and limits, etc.
