Very poor performance in minecraft[solved]

When I add some vanilla tweaks resource packs, mainly bushy leaves and anything that adds block variation such as lower sides of blocks then when I enter a forest or a hilly place (the special textures get rendered in huge amount) my performance drops to 30 and keeps going down to around 15 over time. This happens without shaders and with small render distance. Without the pack I get easily hundreds of fps.

Minecraft version: 1.16.5
mods: optifine
Java versions: tried both 8 and 11
Also tried both opensource and proprietary driver for my amdgpu (AMD ATI Radeon RX 5700 XT)
On Windows: no performance issues at all with the same settings

What are your java settings in minecraft? What are the rest of your cpu/ram specs?

Don't use the proprietary drivers with a 5700 XT. amdgpu should be what you want.

CPU: Amd Ryzen 7 3700X (no iGPU)
32 GB RAM 3200 MHz DDR4

I use multimc minecraft client from the overlay jorgicio, the game is set to be able to allocate up to 4GB of ram, no other specific Java arguments set.

My make.conf:

solved it by installing Iris shaders mod - fork of sodium, not only that fixes the bushy tree bug but also provides much better overall performance.

The problem must've been in using optifine.
