What's your favorite movie?

  • Quote

Post by discomfitor » Fri Feb 13, 2004 1:31 am

I was going through the forums, and I noticed that there were a lot of "What's your favorite music" threads going around. While that's good and all, I'm curious about what movies people like.

Plus, I need some good movie recommendations. I've seen too many and good ones are hard to come by now.

Any genre is alright, just keep 'em coming!

Hard question, can't name only one. But here's my top five, not in any particular order:

The big Lebowski
Waking Ned
Network
The Godfather (Part 1)
The Godfather (Part 2)

Tim Burton - Beetlejuice by far his best
Guy Ritchie - Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels by far his best
Katherine Bigelow - Strange Days by far her best
Clive Barker - Hellraiser by far his best
David Cronenberg - Naked Lunch by far his best
John Carpenter - The Fog by far his best

Am I the only one that actually likes Tron? It is definitely my favorite movie followed by The Doors and Get Shorty.

Well a favourite movie could be "A fistful of dollars" by Sergio Leone.
But generally I like spaghetti western and asian movies like for example:
Zhang Ymou (Red lanterns)
Kitano (Hana Bi, Scene at sea, Sonatine)
Kurosawa
Jackie Chan: Police Story.
Coppola: The godfather saga.

And of course: Terence Hilll and Bud Spencer movies. (They Call me Trinity). :)

Hell yeah, that was one under-hyped, under-rated kick-ass-athon.

My favourite movie is the Shawshank Redemption. Nothing touches it for sheer surprise or rewatchability.

Lilo and Stich is also an absolute classic. And now that I've watched Ice Age nearly fifty times with my son, it's starting to grow on me. (The dodo scene and Sid rescuing the melon is classic.)

"Ground Hog Day". It's not the best movie ever made, but I like it anyway... oh, "Full Metal Jacket" and "Priscilla, Queen of The Desert" were really good. "Hedwig And The Angry Inch", as well...

I love all of them (but I like blue most out of the three parts.)

The only three DVD films I have is "The Wall", "The Life of Brian" and "Open You Eyes".

Another favourite movie coming to my mind is the "Chungking Express".
