I can't find what the reason is.
I check the /var/log/messages but i don't understand what the problem is.
I only know that my gpu is very old. Nvidia with

What do you have to do to experience the sticking?
Is it just laggy, or do you need to restart X/reboot to fix it?

Only hard reset.

Your computer is aging and parts start to malfunction. Electrolytic capacitors are usually the weakest point, on motherboard and in power supply, but once I had to replace capacitors on my nVidia graphics card to make it work again. You could use a voltmeter and measure all voltages on ATX power connector, for starters. Another reason for lockups may be overheating, even local overheating of parts which are not equipped with temperature sensors. Keeping the case clean to make sure there is good airflow and parts are not covered with insulating layer of dust helps to prevent overheating.
My Gentoo installation notes.

These two points play into each other too, as your caps degrade they become much more temperature sensitive, making

A very valid point.

If you've got another machine you can send logs too, you may find there is something pertinent in dmesg or kern.log just before freezing.
A boot to memtest might be in order too, the nature of "compiled from source by me" always make me wary of memory issues.

Haven't used mcelog for ages, took some time until my very own [also aging] memory cells were able to recall it. It is in portage, too.
