Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

Hi,

new to gentoo, i have a little question concerning the portage tree.

When does an ebuild change from unstable to stable? I know, after much of testing, but who decides this and what if i test a program in the unstable branche and find out that it is working well, do i have to notice it somewhere?

Stable apps

Basically it doesn't matter if an app does work for you as much as if it doesn't work for somebody (anybody).

Apps are considered stable when they've worked for everybody for a period of time without any bug reports (I'm not a gentoo developer so I wouldn't know how long that time period is around here).

OK,

so if i make an ebuild for a program and i am the only one who installs it with succes, so no bugs come in because i am the only one, who will release the package after 3 month or so? Me as the only user? There must be some way to know for shure that the packet is tested by different users. Or am i on a complete wrong path here?
