I don't know if my issue is related to Gentoo but here I am anyway. I'm trying to install postmarketOS (in recovery mode, I haven't tried the regular installation yet) on my MotoG (1st gen), which I bought 5 years ago. I've successfully built the OS recovery image but now I need to retrieve what I guess is some kind of an identifier from Motorola using this command:
Code: Select all
fastboot oem get_unlock_dataOf course those drivers are Windows or MacOS only *sighs* . But do I need them?Motorola web site wrote:Next get your Device ID
- Install the Android SDK. <Download link>
- Install the latest Motorola USB Drivers on your desktop. <Download>.
- Put your device in fastboot mode (power off, then press the power and volume down buttons simultaneously).
- On your desktop, open a command prompt or terminal, and go to the directory where you installed the Android SDK tools (or make sure fastboot is in your $PATH)
- At the prompt, type
Code: Select all
$ fastboot oem get_unlock_data
So, I do have android-tools installed, enabled Developer options on my phone, shut it down then pressed VolumeDown + Power buttons simultaneously and I have the boot menu on the phone:
Code: Select all
Boot Mode Selection Menu
Vol Up Selects, Vol Down Scrolls
Normal Powerup
Recovery
Factory
Barcodes
BP Tools
QCOM

Fastboot Reason: Volume down key pressed
USB connectedIf I boot the phone in recovery mode, it only shows No command and I can only power it down. Stuck there...
Thanks for any hint/suggestion.
