No transparency (non compliant) in Fluxbox

  • Quote

Post by FireNoodle » Fri Jan 30, 2004 3:09 pm

First I'm running fluxbox under xdm. I had to shut down the computer quickly so I did Ctrl+Alt+bspace because i can't figure out another way to do it. This didn't work anyway so I had to just hit the power button. But now fluxbox won't make my background full (it tiles instead) and it won't do transparency for xchat and eterm anymore.
1) What happened? How can I fix it?
2) How can I shut off the computer properly without killing everything?
3) Why is the sky blue?

Thanks folks.

My guess is that you may have corrupted you fluxbox files, so check them out in ~/.fluxbox
You should be able to select exit from your fluxbox menu (I assume you did that anyway) and there should be a shutdown button on the xdm menu I believe (haven't used it for a while)

that sounds good but how do i know if they're corrupted. I can open /.fluxbox/init though I haven't tried the others. I have tried exit but it just goes back to the login screen which doesn't, though maybe i'm blind, have a shutdown button. Perhaps I should try something other than xdm.

Could it be xdm files that are corrupted? If so which ones and where are they?

thanks

if you use init3 when you select exit from the root menu you are kicked into the console.
try using fbsetbg to set the wallpaper and add fbsetbg -l in the init file, in the root.Command line,.
try reading the faq at fluxbox.org
