i run ~amd64 and my subtitle fonts are extremely tiny, we are talking like if your not specifically looking for it you wont even notice it small.
like 5ish pixels tall tiny.
anything i can do?

i went though all the options in the gui and even in the .cfg whatever it is nothing seems to effect it.

Try changing the font to dejavu and set font size 24. Don't forget to exit vlc and restart it before testing.
