You can post full build.log. If it's too large search keyword "error:" in build.log and post error.

Sorry but this is not the real error. You should post /var/tmp/portage/www-client/chromium-60.0.3112.78/temp/build.log or search in this file the error.

This could be the problem:
CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO causes segfaults (bug #556286)

From my .conf : CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO=y

.
.
.
and then this:

As a Gentoo user, you are very unlikely to need COMPAT_VDSO=y.

Code: Select all

The bug was introduced by f866314b89d56845f55e6f365e18b31ec978ec3a
	  and fixed by 3b3ddb4f7db98ec9e912ccdf54d35df4aa30e04a and
	  49ad572a70b8aeb91e57483a11dd1b77e31c4468. Glibc 2.3.3 is
the only released version with the bug, but OpenSUSE 9
	  contains a buggy "glibc 2.3.2".

If unsure, say N: if you are compiling your own kernel, you
are unlikely to be using a buggy version of glibc.

solved

Post by cwc » Mon Aug 07, 2017 12:04 pm

installed Version 60.0.3112.78 (Developer Build) (64-bit)

this solved the problem:
revdep-rebuild --library 'libstdc++.so.6' -- --exclude gcc

per gcc upgrade

Same problem here, in my case "CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO" is not set and I allready ran "revdep-rebuild --library 'libstdc++.so.6' -- --exclude gcc" several times.

Can anybody help me? I also tried with different versions of chromium and different useflag convinations without any succeed. I keep getting this error:

Thank you very much for your help, but I checked it and the RAM is fine.
Any other ideas?

Check your dmesg when Segmentation fault happens.

Hi, the only thing noticeable in my dmesg is:
perf: interrupt took too long (9948 > 9927), lowering kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 20000
But in any case, I think I found something that could be related to the problem. I was checking all the make options and I discovered that the package "app-portage/cpuid2cpuflags" is informing me about different CFLAGS (Different from the ones I settled on the installation).

Indeed, the info given by "app-portage/cpuid2cpuflags" is also different deppending on the package version. So I accepted ~amd64 for this package, I set the new CFLAGS, and now I am "re-running revdep-rebuild --library 'libstdc++.so.6".

I will tell you how it ends.

EDIT:

Another fail:

Just ran into this over the weekend, and confirming that this also fixed the issue for me. When I had updated to gcc-5.2 I never did this step, since almost every package in my system needed to be updated at the time and I figured that it would sort itself out. Something must have been missing from that list and needed to be rebuilt with the newest GCC. Chromium-60 was the only package that was affected by this though.

I'm still convinced that problem is a hardware issue. Your cpu go overheating?
If you can try to compile chromium with only one RAM slot and change it with the other if problem happens again.

Hello, thank you and sorry for my late answer.

The machine is not overheating at all (about 80ºC is the higher temp) and it passed the memtest-86. I think I would like to have tried all the options before opening the laptop, maybe even try a complete reinstall.
In any case I am trying an emptytree rebuild.
------------
EDIT= I solved the problem (Finally). I had "-gtk2 -gtk3" on my use flags (just my OCD trying to get rid of things I don't understand). It took me 2 months, a lot of rebuilds (even @world rebuilds), and 1 reinstall.
I feel tired, stupid, but happy.

Thank you for your help!
