[SOLVED] slot for grub2 in world file

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

[SOLVED] slot for grub2 in world file

Hi guys,
I am currently in the process of setting up a new gentoo system and have recently installed grub2. The system boots fine, but there is an issue that I think is not quiet right and probably is due to an error on my part when emerging grub2.

At that time I seemed to remember that on my old machine grub2 was slotted (that was when grub legacy was still there and alive) and therefore used

Code: Select all

emerge grub:2
thus slotting grub to slot 2. This seems to have polluted my world file with two entries as follows:

Code: Select all

sys-boot/grub
sys-boot/grub:2
Both of these entries obviously refer to the same package as revealed by a diff of the outputs of

Code: Select all

equery files grub
equery files grub:2
- there's no difference.

I would now like to "unslot" grub from slot 2 and also get rid of the double grub entry in my world file as I like to have things clean. What's the best course of action for this? I assume simply deleting the line with sys-boot/grub:2 from my world file is not the recomened way to achieve this.

Thanks Atom2

Simply deleting the line is fine.

Thanks John - will do so. I didn't think it was that easy.
