perl-cleaner --all re-emerges same package over and over

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

perl-cleaner --all re-emerges same package over and over

Hi guys,
I recently installed a new gentoo system and today did a world update which also brought in perl-5.24.1-r1. Contrary to a number of threads in here, I did not get any blockers during the world update - so fa so good.

After the world update I started

Code: Select all

perl-cleaner --all
which decided to re-emerge sys-apps/texinfo-6.1. That emerge went without any issues.

Following my general approach to check whether everything is o.k., I decided to restart

Code: Select all

perl-cleaner --all
again after the emerge was finnished to see whether everthing was in order. To my surprise, despite having re-emerged sys-apps/texinfo-6.1 during the previous run of perl-cleaner I was again instructed that sys-apps/texinfo-6.1 needs to be re-emerged.

Now that doesn't make much sense to me. Also rebooting the system (just to be on the safe side) didn't change anything.

I'd appreciate any help on how to solve this issue. Many thanks,

Atom2

Hi Perfect Gentleman,
thanks for your quick reply. At first glance I couldn't find anything related to my issue on bugs.gentoo.org. Could you please point me to the related bug ID. Thanks Atom2

Thanks - I did not see it when I searched because I attributed it to perl-cleaner when the bug is actually linked with texinfo. I have made a new comment on bugs.gentoo.org.

Are there any issue other than that perl-cleaner complaining over and over again? In other words are you experiencing any problems on your system?

On my system currently only screen, grub2 and e2fsprogs seem to depend on texinfo. Is there probably any point in re-emerging those three packages - though I doubt?

Thanks Atom2
