Text becomes huge when TV is also connected (Geforce 730)

Hi,

I just upgraded my GPU from an ancient Geforce 8400 to a 730. These are the connections:
  • HDMI -> Monitor
  • DVI -> TV
If the TV is not connected, everything is working fine.

However, when the TV is connected and the system is booted, the text in KDE appears incredibly large, making most apps pretty much unusable.

If I disconnect the TV and reboot, then everything is OK again.

On the old 8400, I did not have this problem.

Any ideas how I can fix this to make the text always normal size when the TV is connected?

Thanks,
Martin

LEts assume you are using hte binary nvidia-drivers.

fire up nvidia-settings and set what you want by hand. That works here for 660m gtx gpu on a notebook. for external screens for vga.

I do that everytime i use the external screen. as i only use it sometimes its just fine for myself.

when you want to have it always you could add a section to your "xorg.conf"

You should check what edid (data from the external screen) is reported. what settings are used

than you could add a section to your xorg.conf (please note the file name has changed) for that external screen with resolution and such.
