WakeOnLan on alx driver

  • Quote

Post by vanjo9800 » Sun Jul 24, 2016 9:43 am

Hello, I am running a Gentoo laptop and I want to enable the WakeOnLan feature for it. It has an Ethernet adapter from Atheros and uses the alx driver. However, after browsing a little bit, I learned that this feature is removed form the alx driver because of a problem: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commi ... d72ffe8cd2. However, now I need this feature. I have found a way to enable it using dkms: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61651. But I think it would be easier if I just apply a patch to the kernel. So I found this patch, but do not how to change it in order to be suitable. I use kernel 4.6.2 under /usr/src/linux.

The patch:

Code: Select all
