ZFS exec format error [solved]

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

Hi,

I am experimenting with ZFS, and everything was going fine until I booted the system, and the zpool faIlt to import. I did
modprobe zfs
and received the following error: exec format error The initramfs was built with zfs support and I tried to remerge the zfs package to no avail. I am stuck and locked out of my data. Any suggestions?

error: exec format error
You get this error when kernel and module do not match. Did you upgrade your kernel and forgot to upgrade initrd?

If you update or reconfigure your kernel you need to re-emerge zfs-kmod and the spl, then rebuild your initramfs.
I've also had issues with any kernel newer than 4.0.9.
