Try deleting /usr/portage/distfiles/2.6.1-love3.patch.bz2 and /usr/local/portage/sys-kernel/love-sources/files/digest-love-sources-2.6.1-r3, then run "ebuild love-sources-2.6.1-r3.ebuild digest" again. Hopefully after that you should be able to emerge normally.

Omnibook!

Post by jobeus » Mon Jan 12, 2004 8:41 pm

Why wasn't it mentioned that the omnibook module is in here? :) I can finally (hopefully) get my Toshiba laptop working properly again (temperature monitoring and stuff)... The omnibook ebuild wouldn't seem to work with 2.6... Neat! ;)

It was mentioned. Look at the line for Radeon IGP. I found a patch that has four things in one. Omnibook was one of them.

@Wedge_

Though asmon has a very much different system then me, I can't easily make out, what may be the cause. And as my time is limited (busy with diploma) I'll wait for mm3 based love sources and give it a try in the hope it got fixed.

Compiled fine but had hard lock up within a minute or so.

I applied the nforce2-apic-fix.patch wedge posted by wedge in the 2.6.1-love1 thread.

I had to reboot into an older kernel to apply the patch, so I am not sure if it was actually needed (an 'athcool stat' command reports that it is disabled, but it would be once the patch was applied!) but all is well (for the moment....)

Maybe this will help others if they are getting any lockups with nforce2 :?

First of all OneofOne thanks , the sources are great.

Second of all ;) I have a question for you.
Can anyone tell me why when I am trying to rmmod a module its segfaulting
It is segfaulting with 2.6.1-love1/2/3 and with module-init-tools-0.9.15_pre4/
module-init-tools-3.0_pre5.

Does anything appear in dmesg? Do you have module unloading support in the kernel? (sorry, had to ask :P)

Apply this and those should go away.

You need to recompile and reboot before it will take effect.

Edon
I have the same problem, insmod/modprobe .... all segfault. I tried and this is a problem with mm1 and mm2. Any suggestions as to how to fix it would be appreciated (and yes, I do have module loading/unloading support in the kernel)

i use wondershaper for this. though
i do not see which patch it would be;
this is just a script which uses traffic
shaping parts of the kernel / modules.

Hi!

Thanks for the sources, they seem to run great! :D
A small problem, though: When I'm booting, the first two messages I get are:

Code: Select all

cdrom : : unknown mrw mode page
cdrom : : unknown mrw mode page
As I said, everything is running smooth, including my DVD-ROM and DVD-RW drives, so it doesn't seem to be an error message.
However, it's a bit annoying, any idea how I can get rid of it?

I got the messages in love2 and I'm still getting them in love3.
The gentoo-dev-sources 2.6.1 worked fine, though (I copied my .config from there and I merely added Supermount and Reiser4-support)

Thx in advance for your support! :)

Hmm.. is the mrw gotto do anything with the Mount Rainer Format ?? cud it be accociated to the UDF packet writing enabled in the kernel ??

Just a passing thought..

@neene, well i dunno anything about it myself, just stumbled upon it and thought it might be an interesting thing to be added to the Love...

Cud u please elaborate on how you achieve the traffic control with the app that u use, and whether it has a gui ?

Does anyone know if loop devices work on this one? I'm forced to use a random thing I got off loop-aes.sf.net to do it, because otherwise I get ioctl errors. Someone know?

Hello Jassi,

I had UDF support enabled, I removed it and recompiled, but the messages still appear. :(
As far as I can tell from my Google researches, "mrw" does indeed stand for Mt Rainier... (?)

wondershaper is a mere script, which uses traffic
shaping as described in the document you linked
to, to achieve a setup where downloads do not
affect uploads as much, and vice versa, as well
as keeping interactivity when using most of your
up or downstream.

because it is a script, it has no gui.

i use it to browse the net or chat in irc without
too much lag, while uploading and downloading.

also, using wondershaper on this system, makes
sure that other systems on the network can still
browse the net while i am busy; the other users
are not as demanding, but can complain when
they are unable to browse their sites.

I was able to successfully compile this and am currently running on it with no issues.

I moved from 2.6.0-love2 to this one. I am running it on a Korean laptop with no issues.

Thanks for the hard work.

@Wedge_

As 2.6.1-love1 started locking up I am giving love3 a try... And yes, your patch for kexec (or rather clean desintegration) works nicely when I don't enable kexec. For the meanwhile I disabled APIC and enabled CPU disconnect. I just want to see whether the lock are APIC related...

Try wading through this:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=108162

or this (older)
http://www.sdc.org/~leila/usb-dongle/

The readme.html file there has pointers to some relevant Gentoo forums.

I know how to use loop-devices. I already use the loop-AES fix, but I don't need AES or any sort of encryption. All I want is my loopback devices, and without the loop-AES module replacing the normal one, I get something like:

Code: Select all

ioctl: LOOP_SET_FD: Invalid argument
(can't remember the exact error).

I want the loop devices to work out of the box, and that's what I was asking.

Thanks, though.
