Gentoo Linux has always had much to offer any user that that wants deep control over their Linux computer. But nothing is free in life, and Gentoo exacts a price from each Linux user by requiring a certain level of knowledge in order to get the most out of it.

Though they do quote Linux Insider stating KDE desktop, like that is the only option.

Apparently Gentoo is too difficult not only for "newcomers to Linux" but the author as well ("technology analyst" Jim Lynch), or his article might have included some firsthand experience and not just excerpts pirated from LinuxInsider.
