[SOLVED] pypax 0.8.4 fails to emerge

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

For some reason, pypax fails ro emerge with a very descriptive message:
* ERROR: dev-python/pypax-0.8.4::gentoo failed (install phase):
* (no error message)

Code: Select all

DeathStar ~ # emerge -pqv '=dev-python/pypax-0.8.4::gentoo'
[ebuild   R   ] dev-python/pypax-0.8.4  USE="ptpax xtpax" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_3 (-pypy2_0) -python2_6 -python3_2"
output of: emerge --info '=dev-python/pypax-0.8.4::gentoo'

build log from /var/tmp/portage/dev-python/pypax-0.8.4/temp/build.log:

actually it seems failing here

Code: Select all

building 'pax' extension
creating build/temp.linux-x86_64-3.3
x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -pthread -march=native -O3 -pipe -m64 -mmmx -msse -msse2 -mfpmath=sse -fomit-frame-pointer -fweb -fgcse-after-reload -fgcse-sm -fgcse-las -ftree-loop-im -fivopts -funswitch-loops -frename-registers -ftree-vectorize -mno-soft-float -mno-red-zone -mno-3dnow -march=native -O3 -pipe -m64 -mmmx -msse -msse2 -mfpmath=sse -fomit-frame-pointer -fweb -fgcse-after-reload -fgcse-sm -fgcse-las -ftree-loop-im -fivopts -funswitch-loops -frename-registers -ftree-vectorize -mno-soft-float -mno-red-zone -mno-3dnow -fPIC -DPTPAX=1 -DXTPAX=1 -DNEED_PAX_DECLS=1 -I/usr/include/python3.3 -c paxmodule.c -o build/temp.linux-x86_64-3.3/paxmodule.o
paxmodule.c:28:19: fatal error: gelf.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.

Code: Select all

$ equery b gelf.h
 * Searching for gelf.h ...
dev-libs/elfutils-0.158 (/usr/include/gelf.h)
So perhaps give a try to rebuild elfutils and see ...

cheers
