Ondemand governor doesn't exist??

  • Quote

Post by LukynZ » Tue Oct 22, 2013 5:53 am

Hi, I have set in kernel config ondemand governor and performance governor. Ondemand is set as default. However cpufreq-info says it has only performance or powersave. Ondemand doesn't exist at all. Setting performance or powersave results in max frequency all the time both (at least by cpufreq-info). As driver there is loaded intel_pstate (i5 cpu). Could anyone with i5 cpu check if it works for him? Thanks (3.11 kernel)

not an i5, mine is a i7-4900 and ondemand works just fine here.
maybe its because you are using intel_pstate ?

cheers

As far as I know, pstate driver is the driver for sandy bridge core cpus, so this should be fine one. I have no idea what should I use instead

Like it was said before, the intel_pstate driver ignores the governor completly. You can just enable "performance" and set it as default, it doesn't matter.

Concerning tweaking the driver, see this:
