Computer won't wake after monitor blanking.

Computer won't wake after monitor blanking.

I just upgraded my PC to an AMD A6 (Llano) and now when the monitor blanks after no use for 15 mins or so, I'm unable to wake it by moving the mouse or pressing keys on the keyboard. The only way I can get back in is by pressing the reset button.

I've tried disabling ACPI in the BIOS, but it makes no difference.

A few system details:

Kernel: sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.4.9
KDE 3.8.5
x11-base/xorg-server-1.12.2
x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.14.4-r1

I can't even see how to prevent monitor blanking as a workaround.

Thanks

Does the Linux try to suspend to a RAM but get the fail? Or what does your Linux try after 15 mins?

When the monitor blanks, is the machine still awake? Does it respond to network activity? If you leave sound playing, does the sound continue after the monitor blanks?

Yes, it's still running, I left it running overnight and it did a whole update of KDE with the monitor blanked. The monitor blanks after about 10mins, and I'm locked out, though I suppose I could ssh in and re-start X.

I also tried an opensuse-12.2 live CD (KDE) and it had the same issues.

I have managed to workaround it at least - I installed KDE's powerdevil and stopped the monitor blanking, but as I leave this PC running 24/7 I'd rather not do that.
