Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

I am familure with fetch restriction so i download the bin from the oracle site as directed by emerge output dump.

i copy the file over to

/usr/portage/distfiles

then i run emerge again and it changes the name of hte file to

/jdk-6u33-linux-i586.bin._checksum_failure_.Yh2viJ

but i dont see how that is as im downloading it form the site

i also downloaded the bin from a diff computer and tried to ftp it over and still gets checksum failrues

any one have any clues to help me out thanks

Hi neogold,

have the same error: downloaded twice jdk-6u33-linux-x64.bin from Larry's page but still can not emerge dev-java/sun-jdk for version 1.6.0.33

!!! Previously fetched file: 'jdk-6u33-linux-x64.bin'
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
!!! Got: 72029394
!!! Expected: 72029591

I am not sure whether I should manipulate the entry under /usr/portage/dev-java/sun-jdk/Manifest manually with the correct size and sha1sum of /usr/portage/distfiles/jdk-6u33-linux-x64.bin

Maybe somebody has an idea.

Once again me: following worked for me: download the jdk-6u33-linux-x64.bin and jdk-6u33-linux-x64-demos.tar.gz from Oracle

1. sha256sum /usr/portage/distfiles/jdk-6u33-linux-x64.bin
2. sha256sum /usr/portage/distfiles/jdk-6u33-linux-x64-demos.tar.gz

change to /usr/portage/dev-java/sun-jdk and replace the following two entries in the Manifest (the sha256sum should not differ from my one)

DIST jdk-6u33-linux-x64-demos.tar.gz 12132657 SHA256 61f9cafb45d806e54b35bc861980606ace85dfcd1caad6055ba2ee443ec0b6f3
DIST jdk-6u33-linux-x64.bin 72029394 SHA256 215e38e49f7b1b8f0b66383598a51125dbaf04dbcc79de14732406df5e342fb9

After that emerge dev-java/sun-jdk will go through.

Have fun, Holm

Oracle did change the content of the tarballs without specifying exactly why. Might be security related. There are now -r1 of all the latest JDKs and JREs from oracle in tree. Those who downloaded the tarballs before will have to once more. Sorry.
