Xfce 4.8 doesn't work correctly with most themes

For a while, I've had a pretty ugly theme, but I've been unable to change it because of a very annoying problem I've been running into with Xfce. For some reason, the majority of themes I download and install only seem to work partially. A good example is the Albatross theme, which may be found (along with screenshots) here.
After installing the theme, it ends up coming out like this:

As you can see, the buttons don't look how they should, along with the tabs. The same goes for scrollbars, text boxes, etc.
I do know that I have SVG support in the appropriate Xfce packages. I've been trying to fix this for a while, but with no avail.
Does anyone know what the issue could be?

What you see in your screenshot is the non-themed gtk interface. That usually happens with faulty gtkrc theme files, maybe due to a missing gtk engine or a wrong version of gtk for that specific theme.

You could try looking if that theme needs some gtk engine and install it. If the problem persists, launch the xfce appearance panel from the terminal and then, upon selection of this theme from the list, you will see on the output the gtk errors that applying it causes.

I had the same problem too. Installing x11-themes/gtk-engines-murrine fixed it for me.
