Hi All:
Just tried to update my kids' machine and when running emerge -uD system got this:
/usr/portage/eclass/user.eclass: line 1: es-4.4.1.ebuild:: command not found
/usr/portage/eclass/user.eclass: line 2: Drop: command not found
/usr/portage/eclass/user.eclass: line 4: syntax error near unexpected token `03'
/usr/portage/eclass/user.eclass: line 4: `*klettres-4.4.3 (03 May 2010)'
* ERROR: app-arch/bzip2-1.0.6-r3 failed (setup phase):
* died sourcing /usr/portage/eclass/user.eclass in inherit()
In fact, I can't emerge anything as I tried re-emerging portage and got the same error.
Any ideas?

When was the last time you --sync'd?
Could you also post your `emerge --info`.

Hi Genone:Genone wrote:Looks like file corruption. Remove /usr/portage/eclass/user.eclass and sync again, if you get more errors after that remove /usr/portage completely and rebuild it from a fresh snapshot. Also check your filesystem with fsck.
Doing this:
rm /usr/portage/eclass/user.eclass
emerge --sync
emerge -uD system
fixed it.
