libquvi a quvi should block each other i guess.
meanwhile just unmerge quvi and re-emerge it afterwards.

It's a known bug - https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386645

You can try unmerging quvi first, then portage should be able to install the 0.4 versions of libquvi and quvi.

well unmerging quvi removes only libquvi-.0.2.15
emerge quvi merges liqquvi-0.4 and quvi-0.4.0
thanks for the replies.gringo mark_alec :D :D
seems solved the problem :D

Code: Select all

 *      used by /usr/lib/libtotem-plparser.so.17.0.1 (dev-libs/totem-pl-parser-2.32.6)
Use emerge @preserved-rebuild to rebuild packages using these libraries

you have 2 ways of doing it, in both cases you have to copy the modified ebuild to your local overlay or you will lost the changes with next sync :

- use epatch_user . This should be as easy as adding :

Code: Select all

post_src_prepare() {
    epatch_user
}
after src_prepare() in this ebuild. Then just copy the patch to /etc/portage/patches/dev-libs/totem-pl-parser-2.32.6/

Otherwise just use the ebuild i pasted above, copy it to your local overlay, copy the patch as totem-pl-parser-2.32.6-fix-quvi.patch into the files directory where you have located the ebuild in your local overlay. manifest it and install it.

hope this helps.

cheers

today i did the full process all over again deleting /usr/local/overlay/dev-libs
i used notepad to copy and paste the modified ebuild . may be something went wrong in the copying/pasting/renaming of the modified ebild
insted copying the file shown above i edited the original ebuild [as in the shown file above]and saved in local/dev-libs
and copied the patch from the bug site to files folder created in local/dev-libs renamed as required
now manifest went fine and so the merge of totem-pl-parser-2.32.6

i still don't know what exactly went wrong :(

Code: Select all

localtux totem-pl-parser # emerge @preserved-rebuild
Calculating dependencies... done!

>>> Verifying ebuild manifests
!!! A file is not listed in the Manifest: '/usr/local/overlay/dev-libs/totem-pl-parser/files/totem-pl-parser-2.32.6-fix-quvi.patch'
this error report helped me to right repair :)

thanks for pointers gringo :)

ok, for those not being able to use the above ebuild :

- mkdir -p /usr/local/overlay/dev-libs/totem-pl-parser/files
- make sure that /usr/local/overlay is in PORTDIR_OVERLAY
- copy the above ebuild in /usr/local/overlay/dev-libs/totem-pl-parser
- copy the patch into /usr/local/overlay/dev-libs/totem-pl-parser/files as totem-pl-parser-2.32.6-fix-quvi.patch
- cd /usr/local/overlay/dev-libs/totem-pl-parser && ebuild totem-pl-parser-2.32.6.ebuild manifest
- re-emerge the package making sue it is using the one in the overlay.

hope this helps.

cheers
