Welcome to Gentoo.

You need to read, understand and inwardly digest the
Gentoo Handbook.
You have not downloaded a Gentoo "installation disk" like you might download a Ubuntu disk. You've downloaded a disk that lets you build your system from scratch, by formatting disks, copying a starter set of applications, configuring and compiling a kernel (including the appropriate drivers for your ASUS), then installing and compiling more packages (such as X and KDE or Gnome), until you've built the OS you want. But you start with nothing, and add the bits as you go.
You do not simply boot from the Gentoo disk, drink a lot of coffee, and return to find a working Gentoo installation.
Welcome to Gentoo.
(I'm writing this on my ASUS 1000HE, runnning Gentoo.)
