Issue with Nvidia TwinView and Gnome

In Ubuntu if I use the Nvidia TwinView option, I get what looks like one X session per screen, but I can drag windows across the screens. When I use the TwinView option in Gentoo, I am getting one very large desktop spanned across both my screens.

I am using Nvidia-Drivers 270.41.19

Any ideas how I can gain the same appearance as I had in Ubuntu?

Open a terminal window.
su to root
As root, run nvidia-settings
Set up your screens as you want them
Click Apply.
Click Save to X Configuration Files
Make sure Merge with existing filei s checked
Click Save

I have been using the nvidia-settings tool in both Gentoo and Ubuntu. I use the same settings as I do in Ubuntu, but I get an entirely different result and I am unable to get the desired result.

Ok. Did you turn on the xinerama USE flag?

There are actually 2 different things that is referred to as xinerama.
One of them is the xinerama part of X. You don't need that with the nvidia settings, as the nvidia drivers provide that functionality with twinview.

The other thing, is that applications (X included) need to be "xinerama aware", which is what the xinerama flag does.

So, you need to enable the xinerama flag in order for some of these features to work right.
