mozilla: annoying emerge

  • Quote

Post by bfdi533 » Wed Nov 19, 2003 7:25 pm

Every time that I emerge mozilla, it beeps incessantly for many hours until the emerge is complete. This has happened on every box I have compiled mozilla on.

Is this "normal" or is it just my machines?

Is there something that can be done to eliminate this annoyance?

Update: Actually, it is mozilla-firebird that beeps when it is compiled, not mozilla.

Ed

Alternate solution:

1) Unscrew case cover.
2) locate wires from front of case (usually black and red pair) and follow to motherboard.
3) Check that pins lead to by wire are marked "speaker".
4) Grasp said wires leading between said pins and front of case
5) Pull away from motherboard

Works well if you are already part way through your compiling and don't want to restart to prevent the noise.
