Cannot unmerge

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

Cannot unmerge

Hi

I would like to unmerge an ebuild

When I check the ebuild it's installed:

Code: Select all

#emerge -pv dar

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild N ] app-backup/dar-2.3.9 USE="acl dar64 doc nls ssl -dar32" 0 kB

Total: 1 package (1 new), Size of downloads: 0 kB
But when I try to unmerge this ebuild i have this message:

Code: Select all

# emerge -C app-backup/dar
 * This action can remove important packages! In order to be safer, use
 * `emerge -pv --depclean <atom>` to check for reverse dependencies before
 * removing packages.

--- Couldn't find 'app-backup/dar' to unmerge.

>>> No packages selected for removal by unmerge
How it's possible that portage can not found a module it was installed?!?!

it looks like its NOT installed. portage marks it as a new package:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild N ] app-backup/dar-2.3.9 USE="acl dar64 doc nls ssl -dar32" 0 kB

Total: 1 package (1 new), Size of downloads: 0 kB
so there is nothing to unmerge, right?
First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box.
