Could not display "sftp://root@192.168.2.254/"

Could not display "sftp://root@192.168.2.254/"

In nautilus i get the error mentioned in the topic. The .254 host in my local lan and i'm trying to connect from my .2 pc. I tried different addresses known to work but i get the same error : "Error: Error reading from unix: Input/output error
Please select another viewer and try again."

in ubuntu 10.04 it's the same atm...

Try from user account, don't you know root is not supposed to do remote connections.

get it.. sorry that ubuntu-story isn't right...

there is another problem

but echo "=net-misc/openssh-5.6_p1-r1" >> /etc/portage/package.mask && emerge -vaDNu world fixed it
seems openssh-5.6 is doing something strange...


That story about root is also an aspect you have to consider..

in my case it wasn't the root user which i used to connect -- but the same error-message

Downgrading to ssh 5.5_p1-r2 solved the problem so I guess it's an ssh problem.

I don't get the root problem though. I can connect as a root and any other user without problems.
