[solved] paludis/cave: how do I get rid of gentoo-sources?

This forum covers all Gentoo-related software not officially supported by Gentoo. Ebuilds/software posted here might harm the health and stability of your system(s), and are not supported by Gentoo developers. Bugs/errors caused by ebuilds from overlays.gentoo.org are covered by this forum, too.

[solved] paludis/cave: how do I get rid of gentoo-sources?

I've got a manually-managed /usr/src/linux but several things keep trying to force me to install a kernel I'll never use. Common sense suggests that "cave import virtual/linux-sources scm 0" should do what I want, but it doesn't. What's the correct way to do it?

Does paludis still use /etc/portage (I think it did a while ago)? If it does you can add /etc/portage/profile/package.provided, which contains package atoms. I do this for gentoo-sources.

What does cave output if you append "-X gentoo-sources" to your resolve statement which pulls in getoo-sources? Maybe scm does not conform to a version range defined in your profile?

I've figured it out anyway; doing that import command but with sys-kernel/gentoo-sources works for me. I found a linux-sources package I'd apparently already created with importare a long time ago that seemed to be stopping it from working, getting rid of that one made the errors I saw go away.
