rsync: iniparser: cannot open /etc/security/pam_winbind.conf

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

rsync: iniparser: cannot open /etc/security/pam_winbind.conf

Hi,

After upgrading one of my systems, I get this error:

(host1) # rsync -a src_file root@host2:/root/dst_dir/
iniparser: cannot open /etc/security/pam_winbind.conf

However, if I run a similar command from host2, there's no error.
/etc/security/pam_winbind.conf is NOT present on any of my hosts.
The only difference is samba version. I would prefer not to emerge the latest samba becasue I would be required
to upgrade my gcc.
How can I solve this problem with samba 3.0.x? (I re-emerged latest samba 3.0.x and latest rsync but still fails).
Maybe I need to downgrade rsync?
I also have pam 0.99.9.0 on host1. Should it be re-emerged?
In other words, which package installs /etc/security/pam_winbind.conf?

Thanks,

Vieri

I've got this problem because I am upgraded to samba 3.4.6. When I downgrade to samba 3.0.x the problem disapears. Are you sure you are on samba 3.0.x? Did you also manage to solve this issue?

I'm running 3.0.37:

Code: Select all

*  net-fs/samba
      Latest version installed: 3.0.37
I haven't solved this issue but it doesn't seem to be critical as I first thought.
Rsync actually syncs despite this message.

I still consider it an issue to worry about, especially on a production server but at least I can sleep at night.

By the way, on another server I have:

Code: Select all

*  net-fs/samba
      Latest version installed: 3.4.6
and I don't get "the iniparser message"...

On my 3.0.x box with samba iniparser isn't installed. This package is pulled by samba 3.4.6. Therefore the message appears on my samba 3.4.6 boxes. At first it looked that my shares were not accassible anymore in combination with winbind. But I now have a testserver where this just works fine. Don't think that this is a big issue.
