log into kdm fails (solved)

I boot to kdm, log in, black screen and returns to kdm.
After a fresh install and fully updated before adding kde, I got hit with a gtk+/cups circular dependencies. -cups fixed this. I then emerged kde without changing -cups to cups. Was late, I was tired, my bad.
I since re-emerged kde-meta with correct use flag and it added 1 package kde-base. I have since run a uND world, depclean, revdep-rebuild, have no errors or changes.
I am using xfce4 at this time to post this.
I have been able to startx to twm, then startkde, sometimes kde will not finish loading, sometimes will.
Hardware is, p-4 3.2 ht, nvidia 5900 using nv for now. 2 computers using 1 screen with a kvm switch.
I have no (EE) in xorg log, kde.log, or dmesg. Here is the error from kdm.log, using X server 1.6.5

Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"

Thanks, was consolekit, I added it to default run level. hald and dbus were already added to defalult.
Am posting from kde now.
I was hoping it was something simple, sometimes is easy to overlook the simple things.
Will edit as solved, Thanks again
