Install XQDE (new version of KXDocker)

This forum covers all Gentoo-related software not officially supported by Gentoo. Ebuilds/software posted here might harm the health and stability of your system(s), and are not supported by Gentoo developers. Bugs/errors caused by ebuilds from overlays.gentoo.org are covered by this forum, too.

I would like to install a dock on my desktop and have been recommended to try XQDE. I have downloaded the source data from the website http://sourceforge.net/projects/xqde/

But there does not appear to be any make file included and no compiling instructions :?, can anybody offer any advice on installing this piece of software?

I'll see if I can whip up an ebuild for it. I'll place it in qting-edge overlay for testing.

Code: Select all

qting-edge: yngwin master * r71f3001 / (5 files in 2 dirs):
[x11-misc/xqde] initial commit, but masked as it does not compile

I've installed the overlay, when I use the command layman -L I get the output:

Code: Select all

 x11 [Git ] (git://git.overlays.gentoo.org/proj/x11 )

however when I search for xqde or x11-misc/xqde I am told that:

Code: Select all

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "x11-misc/xqde"
How come the computer cannot see the ebuild, or is it at too early a stage to be seen by portage?

It is in qting-edge overlay and it's masked.

sorry my mistake (copied the wrong line) but problem still remains

Code: Select all

qting-edge [Git ] (git://gitorious.org/gentoo-qt/qting-edge.git )
I am using the command "emerge --search xqde" even if it is masked, should it not still give me a package with masked after it in brackets?

Right it has installed without any major errors, does anybody know what this is part of or how to run it, so far trawling the net via google has only shown me what it looks like, not how to use it or set it up. :?
