Getting disconnected from University dial in !!

  • Quote

Post by mb1980 » Fri Oct 03, 2003 3:06 am

Hey,
I have problems connecting to my University via WVDIAL.
Over a normal ISP it wasn't a problem to get a connection to the internet.
When I try to connect to the University first the connection gets established and I got an pppid assigned. But after a couple of seconds the connection suddenly fails and wvdial tries to reconnect. And that every time !!
Does anyone have a solution for that ??
Thanks
Mat

Maybe your university uses chap-authentication. In this case in might even help to add

Code: Select all

"uni" * "uni"
to /etc/ppp/chap-secrets.

since there is a "*" in server section this secret is used for all connections. But since you ISP doesnt use pap it should still work. Your Uni may just want *some* answer to a chap request ...
