I just emerged XFCE4 tonight. I'm still messin' around with it. It's difinately different but I'm liking it. One thing though. I have no sound. When I try to open xmms it says this: can't open audio, please check that you have the correct output plugin selected. No other programs are blocking the soundcard. Your soundcard is configured properly. Hmm. Sound works fine in kde I'm using alsa.
I've had that problem under Gnome, did a re-merge of the Alsa driver... that fixed it for me...
But now I have XFce installed, I noticed that sound from XMMS can get a bit ugly when I have something else running as well, like emerging gFTP, in the background. This was no problem under Gnome.

If printing from other applications fails, too, reinstall your system.
Boot with a Windows boot disk and type on the command line: c:\windows\command\deltree /y c:\windows and then setup.
