Hi,

I'm running kde-cvs and while updating (remerging) kdebase-5 today, I got this error:

Can't find any bug reports on BGO. Anyone with the same problems?

It looks like you are having write access problems.

Check that you have enough free space,
Check that you have write-able permissions to /var/tmp/portage (which you should).

I think something is again broken with the kde-base ebuild, as i have the same prob for a few days.

Hmm, what do you think: should I post this to Bugzilla?

I'm working to get it fixed upstream, or at least nail down the problem.

Please email me with kde-cvs problems, instead of filing a bug report.

Ossi has submitted a patch. Please test this and see if it fixes your compilation problem. If so, it'll get committed to CVS:

http://dev.gentoo.org/~caleb/genkdmcon.c.diff

Thanks.

Can you open kde session from within kdm with this new kdebase? I always end up with twm session if I select kde from the menu. I already sent my kdm log to Ossi.

I have the same problem as samppa. Did anyone find a way to actually log into kde with this new kdebase?

Disable KDM:

Code: Select all

rc-update del xdm default
Now you have to login on the console and type "startx" to start KDE. But don't forget to first edit /etc/rc.conf at the very bottom where you have to specify your KDE version.

Of course this is not very comfortable and I would be quite happy if somebody could give us a hint! :)
