Months ago I installed qingy so that I could fairly easily run more than 1 X session on different terminals to test something, anyway I'm still using it so I don't have X running as root. But sometimes after I log into X with it and end a session, the terminal it leaves me with is completely unusable. The problem? It misinterprets everything from my keyboard. I type, I see gibberish, two characters printed for every key, usually a highlighted question mark as the first one. I can't switch ttys at this point with alt+Fkeys or anything, I've even sshed in at one point, killed qingy and reset the terminal remotely and nothing helps. So I end up with two choices, ssh in from another machine and restart it, or slam the reset button. It doesn't do it all the time, just most of it. I'm not really sure what to do with it, I don't think I've seen any updates for qingy either recently.
If that happens, can you ssh on the machine and check dmesg? Maybe it says where it got stuck.

I remerged qingy with directfb support (and directfb doesnt work because nvidiafb doesnt like the X org nvidia drivers, which is OK, I'm not trying to get it to work with directfb anyway), but I think having directfb try to set a video and fail every time and spewing errors is actually preventing it from messing up my console.. Last time I checked before using qingy with directfb I saw lots of lines in dmesg about something trying to set invalid modes on the keyboard or something.
I don't really consider this problem solved, but at the moment it's less of a problem and I don't feel like remerging qingy without directfb to tackle the one I was having.

Better use the vesa-tng drivers. But I dont know much about the open source Nvidia drivers
I believe the nvidiafb are only for special cards.
Can you post the dmesg login if you want to try again?
