intel3945 disconnects with fast bandwidth transfers 150k+

Hi,

I just switched back to linux after a year of being basically computerless.
As the title says im getting disconnected from wireless networks whenever I transfer faster then 100k/s. Whether by bittorrent or ftp to another box on my network I can get disconnected within seconds.

Im using:
-gentoo-2.6.28.
-I have tried both iwl3945-ucode-15.28.1.6 and iwl3945-ucode-2.14.1.5.

dmesg
iwl3945: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG Network Connection driver for Linux, 1.2.26k
iwl3945: Copyright(c) 2003-2008 Intel Corporation
iwl3945 0000:03:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17
iwl3945 0000:03:00.0: setting latency timer to 64
iwl3945: Detected Intel Wireless WiFi Link 3945ABG
iwl3945: Tunable channels: 11 802.11bg, 13 802.11a channels
This is what dmesg shows when I get disconnected
iwl3945: Microcode SW error detected. Restarting 0x82000008.
iwl3945: Error Reply type 0x00000005 cmd REPLY_TX (0x1C) seq 0x02A6 ser 0x0000004E
iwl3945: Can't stop Rx DMA.
So is my problem a driver problem? firmware? I've looked around on the net and it seems this is a common problem, some people fix it by using different versions of the driver or firmware. Some even go back to ipw3945 for problem free.

This is really driving my crazy, like im even having trouble downloading packages or streaming video.

help please

****************EDIT*****************
The following seemed to fix my problem before, but I formatted and reinstalled gentoo and now im having the problem again
****************EDIT*****************

wahoo fixed it with some searching

I have to load the iwl3945 module this way instead of just modprobe iwl3945
modprobe iwl3945 disable_hw_scan=1

okay I had this fixed, but then I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled again.

im having the same problem, and passing the disable_hw_scan=1 to iwl3945 doesnt seem to work.

according to bug reports on intelwireless site this problem is supposedly fixed

i have the same exact problem and same kernel. with previous kernel I didn't have this problem and now it's becoming really frustrating. But I've noticed that it occurs only with my home wireless router (working fine with the one at work and at some friends house).
It's a Sitecom N300, is it possible that the problem is ALSO (but not only) related to the router?
