Wireless ADM8211 ... need help !!!! -- Solved

Hey,
I have problems getting my wireless card from my laptop running.
The model of the card is ADM 8211 !! I downloaded the driver from the
vendor homepage and installed it. no worries, that worked fine so far.
but I am not too sure if the driver is really working well. at least
iwconfig and ifconfig are saying that everything is ok.

Anyway I was trying to connect to a friend of mine. He's running a
wireless card on WinXP. When I boot Win2000 I can get a connection to him, so the
card should be allright.
Under Gentoo there was no way in getting a connection established. I
also tried to use the tool iwspy and iwpriv but I get the
message the there is no wireless extension ??!! although I got the
wireless extension when I am running iwconfig. Strange isn't it ??
Does anyone have any idea how I get this problem fixed ????

You ever get your problem fixed? I've been having tons of trouble with getting this driver / card / chipset to even connect to an access point.

i am sorry say no ... i tried couple of things but there was no way i could connect to an ap

i still hope that in the near future someone can fix that problem. but the replies for my post tell me, that noone has really a solution for that.
actually i am thinking about getting a new wireless card. but if you have more luck with the card please let me know !!!!

it makes no diff on what other computers on the same netowrk are usin

iwconfig ethx mode monitor && ifconfig ethx up && dhcpcd ethx should be enough

iwconfig is the key , ( man iwconfig)

Hey,
Finally got my card working

The key is ndiswrapper !!! I followed the how-to and that was it.
Quick summary:

- disable smp in kernel
- emerge ndiswrapper
- get win - driver of the adm homepage
- copy driver (Ad*.sys and N*.inf) into directory /lib/windrivers
- insmod ndiswrapper.o
- loadndiswrapper /etc/ndiswrapper/netadm11
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I got an error : operation not permitted while trying to load the module.

solved with that :
- emerge ndiswrapper
- get win - driver of the adm homepage
- ndiswrapper -i Netadm11.inf
- modprobe ndiswrapper

now module is loaded and I have a wlan0 interface
