openoffice-3.0.0 should be soft masked

hi,

i updated to app-office/openoffice-3.0.0, but i'm using it something like 7 days know, and its not really convincing.
some of the things i noticed
"writer": there is no real langage support for me (German): spell checking is not working, document print setup only got inches (no cm), ...
"calc": selected areas are not highlighted properly.
"impress": own background pictures and other style information is not saved the first time you save (?!).

and there seem to be some little bugs here and there i cannot really reproduce. that's why i put this my christmas-wish-list: put a yellow ~ instead of a green + next to version 3.0.0 of http://packages.gentoo.org/package/app- ... openoffice
on the offical site they still call it beta...

Lars

For spell-checking you need proper myspell package (myspell-de for german language).

Check your OO.o language settings and system locale.
I'm using OO.o with Polish language set and in page settings i have centimeters.

From OOo wiki [1], you have to install OOo extension for spell checking [2].

not anymore, OOo changed how they deal out spellcheck, all done via extensions these days
ONLY english,spanish and french dict extension come with OOo3 and can be found in: /usr/lib64/openoffice/share/extension/install
So if you browse the extension manager there you can installed one of those 3 lang pack without any extra download
#define HelloWorld int
#define Int main()
#define Return printf
#define Print return
#include <stdio>
HelloWorld Int {
Return("Hello, world!\n");
Print 0;

If you install from source it tells you to use the myspell dictionary. If you install from openoffice-bin, it tells you to use the extension.

At least, such was my experience.

I don't see it going to ~. For one, it's a pain since most people have upgraded. For another reason, there are security issues with previous versions. On the OpenOffice.org site, it is the main download and is not listed as beta.

If there are so many issues that you don't want to upgrade, you could always add it to package.mask

"calc": selected areas are not highlighted properly.
How about this? Is this a feature or a bug? How to turn it on (you can turn off the border highlighting but not turn on the fields highlighting)?
