Anyone know of an app (CLI or GUI) that will burn CloneCD images? Thanks.

CloneCD is a powerful CD-Copy program. It writes in Raw mode, which allows it to have total control on the data written. Therefore, CloneCD will produce real 1:1 copies of your CDs.
Is that what your asking?

Well, that's the program I'm asking about. I'm trying to find a Linux program that will burn CD images created by CloneCD.

CloneCD basically produces a bin/cue image with an extra file containing sub-channel data.

If you rename the the .img file to a .bin, and edit the cue file so that it refers to the .bin, you can then use cdrdao to burn it, or bin2iso/binchunker to create an iso image.

AFAIK there is no way of using the .sub file to restore the subchannel data.

Thx for the info bob
Quite frankly after hours of searching on google I have concluded that you are the shit...your instructions seem to work great...
I have one question here, you define clone cd image as "basically" a bin/cue with the subchannel data...can you better define basically?

I think the only difference is the sub channel data.
and the file extension.

What's exactly about that subchannel data? What's it's use?

it's extra data on the cd, generally used for copy protection reasons.

and I haven't tried, but you could try running clonecd in wine, maybe find an older version than the latest one for it though.

might work too :)

I've too ran across a situation where I tend to strongly dislike seeing .ccd files ( usually without warning & not the best of times 8O )

after a few months of trying to hack my own way through it ( not beleiving someone didn't beat me to it yet --i was on the xxx2iso bandwageon? ) I was looking through an email from sourceforge & I remember it being right around the time I got it to work 40-45% of the time; but I knew it wasn't going anywhere... so I was rather happy when I did see someone else making attempts  ----> ccd2iso ....

Keep in mind though; I've ran across one or two images that wouldn't convert with that though .... so; goodLuck ( make a backup of the .ccd & .img 1st )

For reference: ccd2iso did not allow me to mount the iso file (!!!) It gave a "file system not specified" and other assorted errors.

I had to download a copy of Warcraft 3 from the internet, since my CD broke (honest. I have a legal bought cd key). It 'came' in .ccd/.img/.sub format. I had to convert this to iso in order to burn it in Gentoo (I understand that I will lose the .sub cd protection data, but I have Frozen Throne so I won't have to play with the cd).

Initially when I tried ccd2iso, the computer would not allow me to mount the iso to /mnt/iso0 (or whatever mount point you use). So here are the steps I took to get the ccd file to work.

1.)

Code: Select all

emerge bin2iso
2.) Rename warcraft3.img to warcraft3.bin
3.)

Code: Select all

bin2iso warcraft3.cue -c warcraft3.bin
Which automatically creates a .cue file from the .bin file.
4.)

Code: Select all

bin2iso warcraft3.cue
Creates the iso in the same folder.
5.)

Code: Select all

mount -o loop warcraft3.iso /mnt/iso0
Mounts the warcraft3 iso onto /mnt/iso0. Make sure that you have loopback in the kernel in the Device Drivers --> Block Devices subsection.
