xscreensaver fails to emerge [solved]

  • Quote

Post by Maikelw » Sun Oct 12, 2008 11:45 am

My last world update was about a year ago, so i thought it was useful to update my world. After some problems with profile and other config related things i get stuck at emerging xscreensaver.

Every update or emerge i want to run (even revdep-rebuild) requires xscreensaver to emerge.

I also tried to mask the xscreensaver 5.07 package down to 5.05 which is the last package available. No solve.

Code: Select all

emerge also complains about something with preserved-rebuild

Code: Select all

!!! existing preserved libs:
.. snip ..
Use emerge @preserved-rebuild to rebuild packages using these libraries
Using this command gives the same story, emerging xscreensaver fails.

The first thing I would try is re-emerging libtool.

Re-emerging libtool didn't solve the problem.

Even a emerge -aDNv system or a revdep-rebuild failed.

You could probebly make this work (I have not tested it) with newer intltools if you add a call to intltoolize --copy --force --automake just before the call to eautoreconf in the ebuild.

Realy thanks omidxo, downgrading intltool did fix the problem.

I didn't tried to edit the ebuild, masking a package is a bit easier. But i've unmasked again, seems that gimp needs intltool-0.40.0.

Now lets fix the rest of the problems :-). Thanks again for your help.

Oh, that was a bit too hasty:

Code: Select all

make[1]: Entering directory `/home/dummy/gentoo/tmp/portage/x11-misc/xscreensaver-5.07/work/xscreensaver-5.07/po'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `default'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/dummy/gentoo/tmp/portage/x11-misc/xscreensaver-5.07/work/xscreensaver-5.07/po'
make: *** [default] Error 5
